Studied under Harry John, George Haller, and Spyro Sbilis. J. Albert Leader Jr, my middle school band director was a HUGE influence on my music career, as was Henry (Hank) Hoffman in High School. Also influenced by Richard Starkey (Ringo), Buddy Rich (the best ever, period), Harold Jones (Count Basie), Danny Seraphine (Chicago), Phil Ehart (Kansas), Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake, and Palmer).
The Beatles, Kansas, Chicago, Dixie Dregs, Deep Purple, Styx, Crack The Sky, Steely Dan, Yes, Rush, Aerosmith, ELP, Queen.
The first time I saw The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show, I wanted to be a drummer. I picked up a pair of sticks for the first time in 1965 and never looked back. I was lucky enough to have parents and teachers who encouraged me and I started playing professionally around age 14. I also spent 6 years teaching and plan to spend my retirement years doing that.
Favorite Kansas Songs:
Mysteries and Mayhem, Song for America, Magnum Opus, Icarus (Borne on Wings of Steel), Paradox ... anything, particularly from their first 5 albums
Attending dirt track races, watching the Phillies, Flyers, bowling, and NASCAR, also enjoy swimming, and attempting to play guitar, bass, and keyboard.
